Step 1: Sign up for an account with Calendly

Yes, I know, it sounds obvious – but the very first step to getting automated appointments in your calendar is to sign up for a free trial with Calendly here.

Calendly is rated first on my list of the best online scheduling tools and apps.

If this is your first time using Calendly, you might be wondering…

What is Calendly, and why is it so good?

Calendly helps you schedule meetings without the back-and-forth emails.

How does Calendly work?

You connect Calendly to your Calendar (such as Google Calendar or Outlook) to let it know when you’re available. Then, people can book a time to speak with you whenever you’re available. If you prefer, you can also choose to block out certain days or times.

Who else uses Calendly?

Calendly boasts over 2 million monthly active users. That’s quite impressive!

At this stage, you’re probably thinking, “Okay, Calendly sounds great… But… Even if I sign up for an account with Calendly, how do I GET more people booking sales appointments with me?”

Let’s talk about that in step 2…

Step 2: Integrate Calendly into your marketing and sales funnel

One of the biggest reasons people who use Calendly get very few sales appointments each month is that they are sending people (who haven’t heard about them before) to book a meeting in their calendar as the first step in their marketing and sales process.

(Don’t worry, I made exactly the SAME mistake when I started out using Calendly)

Here’s the thing…

Why would a potential client schedule a 30, 45 or 60-minute “free consultation” with you, if they don’t know whether you can really help them?

They don’t want to waste their time…

So, to actually get high-quality sales appointments on Calendly and keep your calendar full… you need to build trust and provide value to potential clients FIRST.

Then, after you build up trust, you can send them to your appointment booking funnel.

Did you get that?

It’s so important, so I will repeat it:

Build trust with potential clients FIRST, and THEN tell them to book a free consultation with you in Calendly.

To do this effectively, you need to create a high converting sales funnel using a video sales letter.

Here’s a quick overview of how it works:

  • Have an opt-in page where people can learn more about how you solve their problem by giving you their name and email (this is how you generate new leads!)
  • After they give you their name and email, let them watch a short 5-10 minute video that explains how you can help solve their problem (this is how you build TRUST with leads)
  • At the end of the video, say: “If you’d like to learn more about how we can help you, click the button below to schedule a call…”
  • When they click this button, they are redirected to a “Schedule Page” in your funnel which allows them to book a call straight in your Calendar using Calendly

Step 3: Send people to your marketing funnel

So by now, you’ve learned that:

1.  Calendly alone is NOT enough for you to generate a constant stream of new leads and sales appointments.

2. You NEED to integrate Calendly into a marketing and sales funnel that educates potential clients about how you can help them first (through a video sales letter) and THEN give leads the opportunity to schedule a call with you

So now, the BIG question is…

… How can you get MORE people to go into your marketing and sales funnel?

This is important. Why?

The more people that go into your marketing and sales funnel, the more people that will watch your short video sales letter and then the more people that will book an appointment with you.

There are two primary strategies to send people to your marketing and sales funnel. These are using organic or paid lead generation strategies.

What are organic and paid lead generation strategies?

Organic lead generation strategies are low-cost (or free) ways to start generating leads and sending people to your funnel.

Paid lead generation strategies, as the name suggests, involve paying advertising channels, such as Facebook, to generate leads and sales appointments for your business.

Here are a few ways you can send potential clients to your marketing and sales funnel using organic and paid lead gen strategies:

How to generate leads organically using Calendly

One way to generate leads and sales appointments on Calendly organically is by using LinkedIn.

You can use LinkedIn to find, connect and private message potential clients.

But rather than send people a traditional “Hey, I’d love to learn more about how we can help each other, when would be a good time for a 15-minute chat?” (which is what everyone else is doing!)…

… Instead, you can say, “I’ve put together this short video that explains [how you solve a big problem for them]. Would you like to check it out?” (This provides a lot more value to people and builds trust!)

Then when they say “Yes!” you can send them a link to your funnel – as discussed in step 2 – where they can watch your video sales letter.

If they like what they hear in the video, they can schedule an appointment with you using Calendly to learn more about working with you.

How to generate leads using paid ads with Calendly

Paid lead generation (such as Facebook ads) works almost the same way.

However, instead of manually reaching out to people like you would on LinkedIn, with Facebook ads, people would see an advertisement about how you can help them and then click on a link to watch a short video that takes them to your marketing and sales funnel.

Then, if they watch your video and want to learn more, they click on a link to schedule a call with you, which takes the prospect to your Calendly page, where they can book an appointment.

Start filling up your Calendar with sales appointments using Calendly

It’s crazy to think how many people are struggling to generate leads and sales appointments on autopilot using Calendly.

But when you have a marketing and sales funnel, you can start getting appointments with people even while you sleep.

And yes, I mean that literally.

For example, here is a screenshot of 5 new sales appointments I got over the weekend thanks to integrating Calendly with a funnel and then sending people to this funnel from Facebook ads:

Appointments on demand on the weekend

One of those appointments was even booked at 4:30 am!

This is the power of having a funnel with Calendly: you get automatic sales appointments with potential clients straight in your calendar (even while you sleep!).
