Here’s a review of Kartra biggest features, their pros and cons and my personal thoughts based on my experience using it for the last 5+ years.
One of the most important parts of a Kartra is the landing page builder.
This is because your landing pages are going to be one of the most important parts of your lead generation funnel. This is where you put all your text, images, and content (such as videos) to get people to convert and go to the next step in your funnel.
When it comes to building landing pages, you want something that is:
- Easy to use
- Leads as fast as possible
- Converts well

What do Kartra Pages replace?
Kartra pages can replace any other landing page building tool, including:
Are Kartra Pages mobile friendly?
Yes, all Kartra pages are responsive and work perfectly on mobile, desktop and tablets.
Are Kartra Pages secure?
Yes, all Kartra pages are secure and include an SSL certificate at no extra cost.
What unique features do Kartra Pages have?
One really cool unique feature that Kartra pages have is called “Behavioral marketing.”
This is where you can tag certain leads who visit your page and show or hide specific page elements depending on how they’ve interacted with your business in the past.
For example, if a lead is tagged “customer”, you can hide a special offer only for NEW customers. Or, if a lead has been a regular customer for many years, you could show them specific content on your landing pages that is hidden from everyone else.
Do Kartra Pages work on your own domain?
Yes, Kartra Pages can be hosted on either your main domain name or a subdomain.
Can you build a website with a blog using Kartra Pages?
Yes, you can build a normal-looking website with a blog on Kartra Pages. However, the blogging feature is not very good. If you want a blog on your website, it’s recommended you use WordPress for better SEO results.

In fact, even Kartra’s own blog (at the time of writing this) is hosted with WordPress.
Kartra can be used effectively for everything else (other than blogging).
Are Kartra Pages SEO-Friendly?
Kartra Pages do have built-in SEO features. For example, you can edit the SEO meta title and page description. However, for best SEO results, it’s better to create a blog using WordPress and use Kartra only for hosting your sales funnel.
Do Kartra Pages include split testing?
Yes, Kartra pages allow you to do basic A / B testing (similar to ClickFunnels split testing feature).
You simply make one (or a few) changes on an identical page, and Kartra can start sending traffic to both pages.
The page with the most traffic can be declared the winner once enough data is gathered.
Does Kartra Pages track conversions?
Yes, Kartra pages are loaded with all kinds of analytics, including time on page, visitors on the page and even a heat map feature!
Kartra Opt-in Forms
Most funnel-building tools will have an empty opt-in form with EMPTY fields by default.
But Kartra forms work a little differently!
As seen in the image example above, Kartra can pre-fill opt-in forms with a leads contact information.

My favorite Kartra forms feature: form memory
If someone fills in a Kartra form ANYWHERE (it doesn’t even have to be on your funnel), Kartra will remember the fields they’ve entered.
So, the next time they see another Kartra form, the form will be pre-populated with their information.
This is an amazing Kartra feature!
This feature saves people time (they don’t need to enter their form info again) and as a result, you can increase your conversion rates.

What’s bad about Kartra forms?
I haven’t found anything bad with Kartra forms. They look beautiful and work very perfectly.

Can you embed Kartra forms on other web pages?
Yes, you can embed Kartra pages anywhere you like (not just on Kartra pages!). However, I’m not sure why you would want to do this because Kartra pages work really well. But the option is there if you need it!
Are Kartra Forms GDPR compliant?
Yes, Kartra forms are GDPR-compliant. If a user visits your website from Europe (or any country which is required to follow the GDPR rules), then Kartra will automatically show them a check box for them to confirm they are happy to receive email communications from you.
Can you change the Kartra form design?
Yes, Kartra forms come in over 50 different templates, and you can customize the designs further by changing the color or style to match your business branding.
Do Kartra Forms support custom form fields?
Yes, you can use either Kartra’s pre-built form fields or make up your own.
Kartra videos can replace other paid video hosting software (such as Vimeo or Wistia).
Kartra videos allow you to host your videos on your landing pages and tag people based on what percentage of the video they watch or different actions they take on the video.

Are Kartra videos good? Yes, Kartra videos are incredible!!
They are the same – if not better – than many other popular video hosting solutions.
What are some great Kartra video features?
Kartra videos have many powerful features. One of those features is Kartra video tracking.
What is Kartra video tracking? You can track how far a lead watches your Kartra video and even tag them at certain points in the video. I use this feature on my own Kartra funnel and I love it.
It allows me to see exactly how much of a video a lead is watching and helps me make improvements to my video based on real-time data.
The tags you assign leads who watch certain parts of the video can trigger automation rules (such as email sequences).
For example, you can automatically send someone an email via Kartra if they watch 50% or more of your video (this is a feature I also use in my own funnel).
Other video hosting platforms can do something similar. But the great thing is that by using Kartra, you don’t have to pay any extra for additional video hosting software. It’s all part of Kartra’s all-in-one platform.
Can you customize Kartra video design?
Yes, Kartra videos allow you to change the color, look and feel of your videos.
Do Kartra videos load fast?
Yes, in my experience, Kartra videos are very fast (even if you have a larger video file). For example, I use a long 40-minute video sales letter for my Kartra funnel video. You can see how fast it loads for yourself here.
Can you create Kartra video playlists?
Yes, Kartra videos have a very powerful (and often unknown) feature called “Kartra video playlists.” This allows you to break up a longer video into smaller videos and then autoplay them one after the other.
This is useful because if someone sees a one-hour-long video, they might not watch it. But if they see it’s only 20 minutes, they might watch it. When they get to the end, Kartra will start playing the next video automatically.
This Kartra playlist autoplay feature is good if your audience has smaller attention spans, but you still need to get across a lot of helpful information in your sales videos.
Can you embed Kartra videos on other websites?
Yes, you can use Kartra videos anywhere!
Oh and even if you embed any Kartra videos on your website, Kartra can still track and tag people who watch it!
Can you add video chapters on Kartra videos?
Yes, in 2022 Kartra announced a new feature: video chapters! This allows you to put chapters at different points of your videos so people know what to expect.
This works similarly to YouTube chapters. YouTube has found that using chapters helps increase video engagement and watch time. So it’s recommended you use video chapters in your Kartra videos too.

Do Kartra videos have analytics and engagement stats?
Yes, Kartra videos include analytics and engagement stats (similar to YouTube video stats found in your YouTube studio).
Some Kartra video stats include:
- Total watch time
- Minute-by-minute engagement rate (at what point do people STOP watching?)
- How many people complete the whole video
- How many people see the video but don’t click play
- And lots more
Tip: The Kartra “Dropout” video stat is useful to check if any leads are dropping out of your video at a certain point. If they are, this tells you what you should change or improve to increase your conversions. I used this feature to help improve my conversion rate for my own Kartra video funnel.
Kartra has a very powerful email marketing automation platform that can handle every aspect of your email marketing campaign.
Is Kartra Mail good?
There’s nothing necessarily “special” about Kartra Mail, and it’s not a LOT better than other email marketing solutions, but it IS more or less on the same level as other email marketing automation solutions (such as Mailchimp, Activecampaign, Aweber, etc).
In my experience, the features of Kartra Mail are probably closest to ActiveCampaign. So if you’re familiar with using email automation rules in ActiveCampaign, you should have no problem doing the same in Kartra.
The advantage of Kartra Mail, of course, is that Kartra Mail is part of the Kartra ecosystem.
This means Kartra mail can easily be integrated with other parts of Kartra (landing pages, video hosting, selling online products or services, etc) without needing 3rd party software (like Zapier) to connect everything together.
Similar to Kartra Pages, Kartra Email also has a lot of email templates you can use.
Kartra Mail also gives you the usual statistics you can expect to find from pretty much any other email marketing software (open rates, click-through rates, etc).

What are the problems with Kartra mail?
There are two potential problems some might face with using Kartra Mail.
It’s nothing major, but I do think it’s worth pointing out.
1 – Kartra is very strict when it comes to importing leads. So, if you buy online leads rather than generate leads yourself, you probably won’t be able to import them into Kartra. Kartra only allows you to import leads who have agreed to receive communications from you.
So you can’t just scrape an email database somewhere and import it into Kartra.
In my experience, other tools (like Mailchimp) are less strict with these rules compared to Kartra.
Kartra is very strict with this because they want to keep their email deliverable and open rates high for everyone using Kartra Mail.
The advantage of Kartra’s strictness is that your emails are more likely to avoid spam filters when compared to other email marketing tools.
2 – Kartra has a small “Powered by Kartra” image at the bottom of all emails. It’s not a huge deal, but I’m still giving you a heads-up just in case these kinds of things bug you. It would be nice if Kartra allowed you to remove this (like Mailchimp does), but right now it’s not possible.
Does Kartra allow you to send cold emails?
No, Kartra does not allow you to send cold emails. Like most warm email marketing software (convertkit, mailchimp, activecampaign, etc) you can only email people who have agreed to receive communication from you. If you’re looking to use cold email, then you’ll need cold email marketing software instead.
What email marketing tools does Kartra Mail replace?
By using Kartra mail, you can replace other email marketing tools such as:
- ClickFunnels Follow-up funnels
Does Kartra Mail have good email deliverable rates?
Yes, Kartra Mail has some of the best email marketing deliverables and open rates in the industry.
This is largely in part because Kartra uses Kickbox to automatically filter out bad email addresses (e.g. email addresses that don’t work) and because they are strict with what kind of emails you can import into their system.
Does Kartra Mail have automation features?
Yes, Kartra Mail is packed full of automation features including:
- Behavior-based email automation. Automatic IF and THEN rules depend on whether a lead opens or clicks on content in an email.
- Split testing. Automatically send an a / b version of your emails and see which email content or subject line performs better.
- Personalized content. You can personalize your emails with the user’s first name, location, industry and other variables.
- Automatic sequencing. You can send out automatic follow up emails with a wide range of rules.
- On-going email monitoring. Kartra automatically tracks what days or times your audience is most likely to open and click on your emails.
Does Kartra come with email templates?
Yes, Kartra has a lot of email templates you can choose from. However, I don’t recommend using them! I keep my emails simple and avoid any templates.
Simple emails (that don’t look like email marketing promotions) are likely to convert better, especially if you have a service-based business (not an eCommerce store).
How do Kartra email sequences work?
Kartra email sequences are one of the most powerful Kartra Mail features! It allows you to completely automate your follow-up emails.
Instead of sending out broadcast emails manually (which Kartra still lets you do if you want to), Kartra sequences allow you to send emails each week (or as often as you like) to your leads.
Each time you get a new lead, they can be subscribed to the start of your email follow-up sequence.
This means new leads can get follow-up emails from you without you needing to create any new email content.
This feature is SO good at getting leads to convert into clients that it’s the main part of Week 4 of my lead generation course.
Can Kartra Mail stats track revenue and other analytics?
Yes, you can use Kartra Mail to track which emails convert best in terms of getting sales appointments or making actual revenue (if you’re using Kartra Checkouts to accept payments).
One of the best features of Kartra Mail is knowing what emails in your follow-up sequence actually contribute the most to new sales!
If you find a certain email converts well, you can focus on creating more emails around the same topic!
If you have a service-based business, you might think selling products online through Kartra Checkouts isn’t for you. But that’s not true! You can sell ANYTHING online with Kartra (including services).
My own business is a service-based business that provides b2b and b2c lead generation services, and we use Kartra to bill our clients.
Kartra allows you to set up one-time or recurring payments automatically.
Everything is easy to use, and it works really well. I’ve been using it for years and never had any issues.
What’s good about Kartra checkouts?
You can sell a variety of products and services using Kartra with a variety of payment plans, including:
- Free trials
- Paid trials
- Recurring payments
- Installment plans
- One-time payments
- Multiple price points to choose from
- Order bumps
- And more
In my experience, Kartra was also easier to integrate with PayPal and Stripe to take online payments compared to other tools such as ClickFunnels.
You just connect it to PayPal or Stripe once and then everything else is handled with Kartra.
As a nice bonus, any products or services you sell with Kartra can have automation rules that affect other areas of the Kartra ecosystem.
For example, if someone purchases an online course through Kartra, Kartra can automatically send them their login details. Or, if someone purchases a service, Kartra automation can create an automated email sequence only for new customers.
What’s bad about Kartra Checkouts?
Unlike some other payment processing tools, it doesn’t integrate natively with Apple or Google Pay.
This would be a good feature for Kartra to add in the future.
Apart from that, everything else works great!
Does Kartra allow you to have upsells or downsells?
Yes, similar to ClickFunnels, Kartra Checkouts allows you to sell the main product and have an upsells or downsell offer to someone who previously ordered another product or service.
Which online payment processing tools do Kartra Checkouts replace?
By using Kartra Checkouts, you can replace:
How many products or services can you sell with Kartra checkouts?
You can sell an unlimited amount of products with Kartra.
Can you use coupons or discount codes with Kartra?
Yes, Kartra allows you to create your own coupon, promo or discount codes for any products or services you sell. These special promotions and discount codes can have a variety of variables such as expiry dates, limited to the first 100 uses and more.
Do Kartra Checkouts have a one or two-step order form?
Kartra Checkouts has both! You can choose between either a one or a multistep order form.
Can you manage existing customers with Kartra Checkouts?
Yes, Kartra allows you to easily manage all your customer. With Kartra Checkouts you can:
- Reschedule recurring payment dates
- Cancel or pause recurring payments
- Edit payment details (or let your customers edit their payment details from their billing manager)
- Send automatic email reminders if a customer’s CC is about to expire
- Process automatic or manual refunds if needed
Can you send customer invoices with Kartra?
Yes, Kartra allows you to automatically send invoices to customers who purchase from you using Kartra Checkouts.
Kartra also sends out automatic payment confirmation emails.
You can change the content of these emails in your Kartra email settings.
To do this click on your profile icon (top right) > click on email notifications.
Can you sell your Kartra products or services with affiliates?
Yes, when setting up a new product on Kartra you have the option to make your Kartra products or services available for other affiliates to sell.
You can either open your product up for anyone to sell (through the Kartra affiliate marketplace) or you can only let specific affiliates you approve sell your products or services.
Kartra Leads CRM
Kartra leads management feature is Kartra’s all-in-one CRM feature.
Kartra leads allow you to easily manage all of your leads and clients in one place!
And it’s where you’ll probably spend most of your time in Kartra.
What’s good about Kartra’s CRM?
Kartra’s lead CRM has a lot of great features including:
- Track leads behavior on your funnel. Kartra automatically tracks what pages, emails, links, videos and more your leads interact with. On top of that, it tells you exactly what day and time they interacted with different parts of your website or funnel. This feature is incredibly helpful in improving your funnel conversion rates!
- Organize leads. You can organize leads in a variety of ways using tags and lead score systems.
What’s bad about Kartra’s CRM?
Kartra’s CRM does not have a “Deal Flow Feature” similar to other CRMs which are more sales-focused.
Kartra is more marketing focuses than sales-focused.
However, you can still organize sales leads based on where they are in your funnel by using Kartra tags or Kartra’s lead scoring feature, so this is definitely not a deal-breaker!
What does Kartra Leads CRM replace?
Kartra’s CRM can replace a lot of tools, including:
Kartra Funnel & Campaigns
Kartra’s automated funnel-building features allow you to create full-blown digital marketing campaigns. Kartra can handle every aspect of your marketing campaign from with its all-in-one Kartra ecosystem.
How can you build a sales funnel with Kartra?
To start building a sales funnel on Kartra, it’s a good idea to sketch out a high-level overview of what your funnel needs to look like.

What’s bad about using Kartra to build sales funnels?
The worst part about using Kartra to build sales funnel is “feature overwhelm”! Because there’s so much you CAN do on Kartra, it’s sometimes hard to know where to even start.

What’s good about Kartra Memberships?
Kartra membership sites look great, are easy to use, have a lot of features and integrate with the rest of the Kartra ecosystem very well.
What’s bad about Kartra Memberships?
There are limited design customizations. So if you don’t like the templates or colors provided by Kartra, unless you know how to code, you won’t be able to change much.
Fortunately, this isn’t a big problem as Kartra does have a lot of Kartra membership design templates to choose from. There’s a good chance you’ll find something you like.
Which tools Kartra memberships replace?
Kartra memberships can replace the following online course platforms:
Does Kartra allow you to have multiple online courses?
Yes, Kartra allows users to have one membership login which they can use for multiple online courses hosted with Kartra. They can access all the courses through your Kartra portal.
If a user does NOT have access to a certain online course, you can explain what they need to do to purchase or access it.
Kartra Surveys and Quizzes
The Kartra Quizzes and Surveys feature allows you to get more insights into your leads and pre-qualify leads before you work with them.
You can use the Kartra surveys and quizzes feature to:
- Get customer feedback surveys
- Improve customer experience
- Give users a scored quiz
- Analyze responses
- And more
What’s good about Kartra’s survey and quizzes?
It can replace other software you might use for surveys and quizzes including:
- Wufoo by SurveyMonkey
- Thrive Quiz Builder
What’s bad about Kartra’s survey and quizzes feature?
If you need more advanced quizzes with lots of different rules and outcomes depending on the user’s answer, you might not be able to do everything you want. However, for most simple quizzes or surveys, Kartra does the job quite well.
Are Kartra Surveys worth it?

Kartra Helpdesk allows you to have a support portal where you and your team members can easily respond to support tickets.
What can Kartra Helpdesks replace?
Kartra Helpdesk can replace the following support ticketing software tools:
What’s good about Kartra Helpdesks?
Kartra Helpdesks allows you and your team to easily respond to tickets from one Kartra dashboard. It’s also easy for customers to send support tickets via Kartra Helpdesks via email.
What’s bad about Kartra Helpdesks?
Requires some additional time on your end to set it all up if you want to allow customers to respond to support tickets via email.
However any other support ticketing software you use will also have the same issue.
Kartra Calendars can replace cuity, Callendly or other appointment scheduling software.
What’s good about Kartra Calendars?
- Very nice design and user experience (similar to Calendly’s design)
- If a user has filed in a Kartra form in the past, when booking a call their information will already be filled in
- Custom email reminders
- Gives you the option to have either free or paid consultations
What’s bad about Kartra Calendars?
Kartra calendars have a few problems that may make you consider using an alternative, such as Calendly. These problems include:
- Does not integrate well with Outlook calendars. Whereas Calendly does work well with both Google & Outlook calendars.
- Does not send a calendar invite via email. It send an email confirmation, but then the user needs to click on a link in the email confirmation to add the appointment to their calendar. Calendly automatically does this for you.
- Does not send automatic text reminders. You can integrate Kartra with Twilio to send automatic text reminders, but Calendly does this for you without needing any additional integrations.
- Has “powered by Kartra” text. Calendly has something similar, but they allow you to remove it on their paid plan.
Kartra Affiliate Review
With Kartra affiliates, you can either:
- Let other people sell your products/services (in exchange for commission)
- Sell Kartra to other users in exchange for a commission

When someone signs up to be your affiliate, they get access to Kartra affiliate products from other businesses. Some people may find this distracting and would rather that they don’t see any other Kartra affiliate products to promote.
I don’t really see this as a bad thing though. If you have a great product or service, they will focus on promoting you. And if they really want to promote other products and services too, I see no harm in that.

Is Kartra good for service-based businesses?
Yes! Kartra can work for any online business, including service based businesses. I have a service based business and I use Kartra for everything to do with my marketing strategy and sales automation.

Does Kartra have good customer support?
Kartra provides good email and live chat support. However, they do not provide phone call support. Considering the price of Kartra, I’m not too surprised they don’t provide phone support. Many other tools at a similar price point are the same.
The Kartra email customer support has been pretty good in my experience. You usually get a response to any queries within 24 hours (depending on how simple or complex your question is).
